Athletics Forum Seeks To Build True Rwandan Champion #rwanda #RwOT

The Athletics Commissions Forum is concluding its discussions on Saturday since kicking off on November 19, in the capital Kigali at Kigali Olympic hotel.

According to organisers, this forum has attracted 105 participants from 25 National Sports Federations, 4 Olympic scholarship holders, 4 athletes benefiting team support grant program, 6 athletes benefiting ANOCA special grant, 16 Olympians and 25 from the National Sports Federations.

During this gathering, participants deliberated on Protection of Clean Athletes and Covid-19 prevention measures. They also scanned through Gender in Sports and Inclusion on Day-two of the forum.

For the past three days, participants at the forum have been engaged in discussions guided by Safeguards, Anti-Doping: 2020 update and Mental health and finally Competition manipulation.

On Saturday, forum was treated to a discussion under a topic 'Building a True Champion'. Valens Munyabagisha the President of Rwanda National Olympic and Sports Committee (RNOSC) submited on how his committee can contribute to building a true champion.

'One of the key responsibilities of RNOSC is to contribute to capacity building of Sport and Games Federations and Associations. Several technical courses for coaches in Athletics, Rugby, Basketball, Triathlon, Handball and Karate have been organized,' he said.

Meanwhile on the sidelines of this forum, , the Rwanda National Olympic and Sports Committee in partnership with the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Rwanda also launched a 10-day awareness campaign to fight COVID-19 pandemic.

The forum was proposed following the approval of the RNOSC Athletes Commission by the RNOSC General Assembly held on the 11th of November 2020.
