Ethiopia's Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali drove to the border with neighbouring Kenya where he was received by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday.
The two leaders, officially opened the Moyale One-Stop Border Post in Kenya's Marsabit County. The Ethiopian leader will spend the next two days in Kenya for a state visit.
According to the handlers of both leaders, they will also inspect construction works ongoing at Lamu port.
In their address to the public, the two leaders said the new infrastructure will help enhance regional economic integration and advised Moyale residents to take advantage of the facilities especially the OSBP to grow cross-border trade.
Meanwhile, the 500km Hawassa-Hagere Mariam-Moyale Road is a key segment of the Mombasa-Nairobi-Addis Ababa Road Corridor and the Trans African Highway.
Prime Minister Abiy and President Uhuru have also cautioned individuals fanning communal conflicts in the region saying both Kenyan and Ethiopian authorities won't relent in their concerted efforts to ensure peace and tranquility along the common border.
