Rwanda National Team Amavubi's hopes to make it to AFCON 2022 continued to diminish as they settled for a goalless draw against Cape Verde on Tuesday.

During Tuesday's match, both teams started well creating a couple of chances, though they did not materialize those chances and find the back of the net.

Rwanda's mountain became harder to climb following Ally Niyonzima's red card after committing a second bookable offense in the 33rd minute.

The second half began with a change for the Amavubi, with Vincent Mashami making the first substitution when Medie Kagere was replaced by Kevin Muhire while in the 56th minute Ernest Sugira came on to replace the injured Jacques Tuyisenge.

The situation did not seem to improve a lot as Cape Verde continued to pile pressure on the hosts, though goalie Olivier Kwizera pulled up in between the posts to keep the second consecutive clean sheet.

Later, Savio Dominique Nshuti was introduced on the pitch replacing skipper Haruna Niyonzima, and this gave Amavubi strength in attack.

The 90 minutes of the match ended with no team scoring on the day.

The development means Amavubi remain bottom of Group F with 2 points gathered from the 4 matches played so far. Cameroon leads the group with 10 points, followed by Cape Verde in the second position with 4 points, while Mozambique is in third position with 3 points.
