Rubavu district authorities are jointly holding a meeting with Caritas Rwanda aimed at officially launching the activities of USAID Gimbuka a nutritional program.
Since September, 2012 USAID Gimbuka is implemented by Caritas Rwanda. The main objective of the program is to improve the nutritional status of children under five and vulnerable pregnant and lactating mothers, to strengthen the economic status and well-being of Orphans and other Vulnerable Children (OVC), their families and People Living with HIV, as well as support Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) to develop into Determined, Resilient, Empowered, Aid Free, Mentored and Safe lives (DREAMS).
Nowadays, Gimbuka directly supports 116,368 beneficiaries among them 92,782 under five children, 6,200 OVC, 6,271 AGYW in DREAMS component, and supports 11,115 households through their efforts towards self-reliance.
Caritas Rwanda partners with different governments institutions such as Ministry of Health at National level, districts, sectors, cells, villages and technically with Health centers, different schools at field level.
The activities are discussed through meetings initiated either by Caritas Rwanda (cluster meeting, quarterly meetings) or organized by local leaders (JADF at district, sector level).
