Police in Rubavu district has arrested eight men suspected of stealing cement meant for construction of classroom blocks at Kanyundo School. The suspects arrested include masons, storekeepers and guards at the construction site.
Rudatinya Vianney, the Executive Secretary at Mudende sector confirmed the arrest and said it was possible after a tip off from area residents that alerted Dasso. A total of 10 bags (250kgs) of cement were seized during the arrest.
The suspects are awaiting for processing their charges to pave way for prosecution. If found guilty, they risk a seven year sentence and fine of not less than Frw3million.
