The Tanzania Electoral Commission (NEC) on Friday announced that incumbent President John Pombe Magufuli was leading with an average score of over 80% of the votes in most constituencies.
Retired Judge Semistocles Kaijage the chairman of NEC on the second day announced presidential results for Njombe Urban, Wanging'ombe, Makete and Lupembe constituencies.
In Njombe Urban, Magufuli harvested 30134 (representing 84.47%) of the valid votes cast. His opponent Lissu scored only 5138 (14.4%) of the total votes.
According to NEC, Magufuli also swept the 80% of the valid votes cast in Makete constituency while his rival Lissu only secured 11.9% of the vote in the area.
Meanwhile, at Wanging'ombe, the ruling party CCM candidate secured 92% of the votes and 27517 votes in Lupembe: 94% of the votes.
Switching to Mwanza, NEC said the results from two constituencies ; Misungwi constituency, Magufuli scored 98.72% while in Sengerema, the ruling party CCM candidate harvested 87.56% of the votes.
For the semi-autonomous island of Zanzibar, the NEC announced the that Magufuli scored 67.25% in Mahonda constituency, Bumbwini constituency Magufuli secured 85.67%, Chumbuni Magufuli scored 72%, Mwanakwerekwe 71.05%, Tumbe 47.06%, Micheweni 51.06%, Kiembesamaki 82.85% and Makunduchi 86%.
The National Electoral Commission also released results for the Coast region whereby in Mafia, Magufuli secure a whooping 79.56% of the votes while in Bagamoyo, Magufuli got 80.95% of the votes. His rival Lissu got 15.48%.
Considering the busy town of Kibaha, Magufuli trounced his rival by securing 83.43% of the vote compared to Lissu's 15.15% of the vote.
Focusing on Singida
In Manyoni constituency, Magufuli won with 85% of the votes while in Singida West, Magufuli also won with 83.25% . For Iramba East, the CCM candidate Magufuli bagged 87.82% while his rival Lissu got 10.08% of the votes cast.
Magufuli is also leading in Singida west, Katati, Tanga.
