Former Rwanda Prosecutor General, Jean Bosco Mutangana, is under detention for alleged use of forged documents.
Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) confirmed that Mutangana was indeed arrested on October 26 over allegations of forgery.
RIB Spokesperson Dr. Thierry Murangira, told Taarifa that Mutangana is still under investigation. 'I can't give details now because investigations are still ongoing,' he said.
He is held at Remera Police Station.
Normally, a lawyer who is a member of the Rwanda BAR association gets arrested upon informing the association, with exceptions.
Julien Kavaruganda, the President of the BAR association told Taarifa that their colleague was arrested on Monday before the BAR was informed.
He however said that the BAR and RIB have held discussions on the next legal procedures.
He has been allocated lawyers who spoke to him on Wednesday and further actions will be communicated.
'We should be able to give details tomorrow,' he said.
