Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) has apprehended Beatrice Gahongayire, proprietor of African Buffalo Ltd, an alcohol production plant, and the operations officer, Bonaventure Niyitegeka.
RIB says preliminary investigations indicate that some of their products including Moonlight Vodka (nicknamed ICYUMA), Master Cane Spirit and Rea Waragi exceed acceptable levels of ethanol and methanol.
According to the RIB, excess levels of ethanol and methanol are considered as drugs. Notably, RIB said on Wednesday that the products in question did not have labels indicating the content in the drinks.
The duo is held at Rusororo Police Station pending further investigations before charges are laid before the suspects.
